Women Who Lead Snag

Snag is a woman-founded brand, and the majority of our leadership team are women, too. To celebrate International Women's Day, we're kicking off a series of blog posts to share the stories of the incredible people behind the brand. We are a company driven by love and a commitment to doing fashion differently. Let's start right at the top and meet the four women steering the ship.

CEO

Brigitte Read (Brie)

Brigitte Read, CEO of Snag
  • 🌍 Grew up across China, Middle East, Africa & GB
  • 💛 Heart-led leadership
  • 👩👧 Mother & stepmother

Brie is a truly rare and special person, both as the leader of Snag and as a human being. She has a unique perspective on life, having grown up across China, the Middle East, Africa and throughout Great Britain, and that lived experience has made her deeply open to the diversity of people and ways of being in the world. Her creativity, empathy and ability to inspire us to push ourselves so that the goodness of Snag reaches more and more people is genuinely awe inspiring.

She leads from the front, always working harder and thinking more deeply than anyone else, while also being a mother and stepmother to a family of beautiful, strong girls.

Growth and success can be heart-led. We do not have to chase profit at any cost. We often make less profitable, supposedly "wrong" decisions because they are the kindest and most ethical choice.

This is why Snag strives to be more of a friend than a brand. We take care of our colleagues and our customers as we would our own family. We give first. In a world driven by money, power and exploitation, that feels quite radical.

We want women to be loud, to wear colour, to fly their freak flag high and take up space. We use real, un-retouched women in our imagery because representation matters. We make high quality, ethically produced clothing at fair prices so people can wear things they love and feel good in, knowing everyone involved was valued and cared for.

We believe these things because Brie has written them into our hearts. Snag is, at its core, driven by love and inspired by Brie.

COO

Polly Letson

Polly Letson, COO of Snag
  • ✍️ Background in writing
  • 🎓 Met Brie at university
  • 📦 Built the warehouse from scratch

Polly never set out to be in a leadership role. She is, by nature, a background kind of person. She does this job because she gets to work with her best friend, Brie, Snag's CEO, and because her main aim is never to say, "no, that's not possible". Somehow, they always find a way.

They have been talking about running a business that would change women's fashion and the way the industry views and sizes women since they first met at university, when Brie was 17 and Polly was 20. Snag is those conversations magically made real life.

When Polly first took on running operations, her background was writing, but she cared deeply about customers and believed she could build a warehouse that truly put their experience at the centre of every decision. Because she also oversaw customer service, if something went wrong, they found out how, fixed it, and with the amazing CS team, made it right. That feedback loop shaped everything.

It was overwhelming at first, sketching layouts, building desks and racking, wrapping early deliveries until her hands cramped, and training staff while still inventing the roles. Step by step, she helped build strong processes and values-led decisions with her incredible team.

Valeria placed a hand on her shoulder, looked her in the eye and said, "Don't worry. You know you've got this." In that moment of connection, Polly felt truly seen and realised she really could do it — because she already was.

Polly believes women do extraordinary things simply by doing them, step by step, often before they believe they can. If she could say one thing to other women, it would be Valeria's words — Don't worry. You know you've got this. She feels endlessly grateful for the wild, meaningful work they do, the incredible team and customers who make it all matter, and for working each day alongside her best friend.

Women do extraordinary things simply by doing them — step by step, often before they even believe they can.

Chief Brand Officer

Prema Chablani

Prema, Chief Brand Officer of Snag
  • 🌏 Grew up in Japan
  • 🇮🇳 Proudly Indian
  • 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Based in Scotland
  • 🐾 Dog mum to Pablo

Prema is truly a child of the world, a fusion of beautiful cultures, perspectives and places that have shaped her into the woman she is today. She grew up in Japan, is proudly Indian, adores Scotland, and has lived in Paris, Barcelona and Shanghai since moving to the UK. Bangkok may well be next. Adventure calls to her constantly. She is drawn to places where culture is strong and expressive, where you can gather new colours, traditions and stories to weave into your own life.

And yet, she is equally at home curled up with her family and her miniature dachshund, Pablo, arguably the cutest pooch in the whole wide world. Her dog, her family and her friends are her anchor. Time with them is her reset button. Add sunshine, the sea, a swimsuit and the promise of watermelon, and she is entirely herself. It is slightly ironic that someone who runs on sunlight ended up in Scotland, but Prema carries her own warmth wherever she goes.

As an Indian woman in UK corporate spaces, she has often felt "other". That is why she worked hard to sit at the table where decisions are made — so she can open doors for those who might otherwise be overlooked.

As Chief Brand Officer, these layered experiences give her a rare ability to connect. She understands what it feels like to be on the outside. Being truly seen can change everything, and she never forgets that.

You are already incredible. Nothing about you needs fixing. When you start believing you are lucky, capable and deserving, the world begins to open. You deserve the life you want.

And the moment you trust that, everything feels lighter and a little more possible. Prema lives that belief out loud, in full technicolour, and in doing so, invites all of us to do the same.

Chief Product Officer

Niki Akrivou

Niki, Chief Product Officer of Snag
  • 🏛️ Born in Athens
  • ✏️ Started working at 14
  • 🧵 Womenswear design graduate
  • 🗺️ Worked across London & Paris

Niki carries the coolest kind of London energy, fused with dark curls and soulful brown eyes that could have belonged to Athena herself. There is something both powerful and thoughtful about her presence. She notices everything. Every seam, every millimetre, every curve.

If a Snag garment fits beautifully on every body, it is because Niki would accept nothing less. No one holds that mission more fiercely. And nothing moves into production without Niki's seal of approval.

Born in Athens and raised in a small village in the Midlands, Niki grew up watching her mother raise her alone while juggling two jobs and a mortgage. That example of resilience and independence shaped her completely. As an only child, creativity became her playground. She was always drawing, colouring, imagining. She started working at 14 and has not really stopped since, studying womenswear design at university while working part time at Marks and Spencer.

Colour, surrealism and the transformative power of clothing have always fascinated her. After university she moved to London, working at Selfridges while interning for a luxury brand. In the years that followed, she worked across London and Paris and travelled through Europe and the Far East, visiting mills and factories and learning from the people who truly make the clothes. Those experiences sharpened her standards and deepened her belief that beautifully constructed garments can profoundly change how a woman feels.

Motherhood has been her most humbling role, teaching her to loosen her grip on perfection and offer herself grace. In becoming a mother, she has come to understand more deeply the gift her own mum gave her. To be loved so completely. So fiercely. To be protected and encouraged without condition.

Her understanding of garment construction and the unique curves of women's bodies feels almost instinctive. But alongside ambition and meticulous precision, motherhood has softened Niki. Now, as she looks at her son, she recognises that same love flowing forward in beautiful connection.

Women should dream without limits, work with purpose and never apologise for taking up space.
